In 2001, six local merchants gathered to discuss an unprecedented idea leading to the formation of what is known today as the Claremont Village Marketing Group (CVMG). Their idea was that if local businesses could come together in sharing their resources and time, a marketing effort could be created that would improve the overall business in the Claremont Village. They also believed in giving back to the community and partnering with entities such as the city and chamber of commerce. The small group saw local residents react by showing their support in their businesses. This idea would soon lead to solid business growth in the Village, sustained business through a recession and ongoing assistance for other local nonprofits.
Since its inception, the CVMG has conducted numerous ongoing events to raise money for marketing and community giving efforts in the Claremont Village area. Hundreds of businesses have participated in the events over the years, helping to sustain and grow local business. No membership dues have been required of any merchant/restaurant owner involved, and the group has been sustained in whole by its fundraising efforts and event ticket sales.
